The Earth Imperial War was a catastrophic conflict that lasted for fifty-one years and unfolded before, during, and after the events of the Galactic Civil War Era in the Star Wars galaxy.
This prolonged war became the central backdrop for the Imperial Conquest, shaping every major political struggle of the era and ultimately determining the fate of both galaxies involved.
History[]
Prior to the Events 2012-2018[]
Long before the first shot of the war was fired, the Galactic Empire had already established a foothold within the Milky Way Galaxy.
Beginning in 2012, Imperial scientists, engineers, and military planners secured former Confederacy of Independent Systems and Trade Federation colonies that had existed since the time of the Far Away War.
These planets, still harboring abandoned or partially functional infrastructure, were brought under direct Imperial control. Between 2012 and 2017, immense resources were poured into transforming these worlds into habitable Imperial outposts.
Terraforming stations, mining facilities, cloning sectors, and military staging grounds were built at rapid speed, supplied by a steady flow of starships arriving through the Blackhole Gateway that linked the Milky Way to the Star Wars galaxy.
By the year 2018, the Empire’s presence in the Milky Way had grown into a vast and intimidating military network.
More than forty million Imperial personnel were stationed across the region, supported by a growing fleet of Clone Wars era/yet Imperialized vessels and early Imperial Star Destroyers.
Once all preparations were complete, the Galactic Empire received authorization to initiate the long planned Galactic Annexation of Earth.
Fall of Earth Era 2018-2020[]
Imperial Army Troopers advancing during the Fall of Earth Era at the time of the Battle of Bygone, on October 20th, 2018...
The Earth Imperial War officially began on September 13th, 2018.
The first wave of Imperial forces arrived without warning, deploying battalions of Army Troopers armed with a hybrid assortment of Clone Wars era blasters and early Imperial weaponry.
These initial ground forces were tasked with creating beachheads across the planet and testing Earth’s military response. Although these early engagements were brutal, the true storm arrived months later.
By February of 2019, the sky above Earth was filled with Imperial Star Destroyers, and the Empire began deploying fully trained Stormtrooper legions and advanced armored walkers.
Some AT-AT units had been introduced in small numbers during late 2018, but the 2019 deployments marked the first large scale use of heavy walkers and coordinated orbital strikes.
The introduction of orbital bombardment fundamentally changed the course of the war. Powerful turbolaser strikes rained down from low orbit, reducing cities, military bases, and industrial centers into scorched wastelands.

Entire regions were transformed into blackened ruins within hours. Despite this overwhelming firepower, Earth’s military forces fought with extraordinary determination.
The United States, the Soviet Union, China, and the European powers mounted intense defensive campaigns that slowed the Imperial advance for nearly two years. Yet their resources were finite, and the Empire’s reinforcements were effectively limitless.
By the year 2020, the situation deteriorated rapidly. More Imperial Star Destroyers continued pouring through the Blackhole Gateway, overwhelming Earth’s remaining power centers.
The final collapse of Earth’s global defenses came on October 22nd, 2020, marking the official Fall of Earth.
In contrast to the Far Away War that began in 1993, during which Earth’s armies remained partially intact under Droid Occupation, the Earth Imperial War left almost nothing standing.
The Empire had learned from the failures of both the Trade Federation and the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Imperial strategists studied Earth’s fierce resistance during the years of 2002 and 2003 when Earth forces fought the Galactic Republic.

To prevent a repeat of that costly struggle, the Empire implemented a strict orbital bombardment protocol after every major confrontation. Beginning in early 2019, any battlefield that showed signs of potential resistance was immediately subjected to devastating bombardment. This strategy destroyed supply depots, fuel reserves, factories, and infrastructure needed to sustain organized armies.

By the time Earth fell in October of 2020, the militaries of Earth had been reduced to ruins. Most divisions, fleets, and air forces no longer existed in any functional form. Equipment was destroyed, command structures had collapsed, and surviving soldiers were scattered across the continents. The once powerful armies of Earth dissolved completely in late 2020, not through surrender, but through total annihilation.
What remained of humanity’s defenders transformed into fragmented resistance groups.
Several of these formed in the aftermath of the Fall of Earth. One resistance group established itself deep beneath the ice of Antarctica. Another operated from vast underground networks throughout Imperial occupied North America.
Smaller resistance cells emerged in Japan, South America, and Mesoamerica. These groups consisted of surviving soldiers, officers, and civilians who had no choice but to join the fight in order to replace the overwhelming casualties suffered during the Fall of Earth era.
Imperial Occupation 2020-2046[]
Ongoing Warfare Post October 22nd, 2020[]
During the Imperial occupation of Earth, the planet lay shattered and nearly defenseless.
Ninety-eight percent of the world’s militaries had been destroyed during the initial invasion, leaving only scattered survivors and a handful of underground movements.
These scattered groups eventually unified under a shared purpose and became known collectively as the Resistance Cells of Earth. Among them were the Earth Resistance, the North American Resistance, the Meso-American Resistance, the Japanese Resistance, and the South American Resistance. Together they formed a fragile but determined network of fighters who refused to surrender their world.
Between 2021 and 2023 these Resistance Cells attempted to fight the Empire using guerrilla tactics while also trying to establish checkpoints across their continents.
Their goal was not only to reclaim lost territory but also to gather resources from their devastated homelands in order to survive. The Earth Resistance launched its largest operation of that early period at Pripyat in 2023. The plan was ambitious and well coordinated, but it failed due to overwhelming Imperial defenses and the dangerous radiation pockets surrounding Chernobyl.
A year later, the Earth Resistance attempted another major strike in China near the city of Langshi. This second attempt was met with heavy Imperial firepower and was forced to withdraw before significant gains could be made.
A shift in the balance of the war came unexpectedly. Across the Milky Way, most of the Galactic Empire began to withdraw back through the black hole they had used to enter the galaxy in the first place.
The timing of this withdrawal aligned with events in the Star Wars Galaxy, specifically the destruction of the first Death Star during the Battle of Yavin in the year 2022 according to the Earth calendar, or year 0 BBY by Imperial records.
Although the Empire pulled out the majority of its fleets, commanders did not leave Earth entirely unguarded. Several powerful assets remained in orbit and on the surface, ensuring the occupation continued. Even with their numbers reduced, the Empire was still a terrifying force for any surviving humans to confront.
Interestingly, Resistance leaders from every region began to note a strange feeling. With the massive Imperial armadas gone and fewer starships patrolling the skies, the war started to resemble the kind of conflict Earth had known before the invasion.
They still faced superior technology and elite Imperial units, but they no longer had to fear an entire fleet of warships obliterating them from orbit without warning. For the first time since the occupation began, victory did not seem impossible.
The true turning point came on May 14th, 2024, when the Earth Resistance launched Operation Orbital.
This operation became the largest, deadliest, and most strategically significant engagement of the entire Earth Imperial War. Not since the Fall of Earth Era offensives had humanity attempted anything this monumental.
Operation Orbital triggered the First Battle of the Sahara, where Resistance forces fought through blistering heat, Imperial shock troopers, and automatic planetary defense grids in order to strike at the heart of the Imperial presence in Africa.
The battle ended with the destruction of the Imperial Fortress Helios, one of the Empire’s most fortified outposts on the planet. At the same time, Resistance orbital teams successfully brought down the Imperial super corvette Sidiousus, marking the first time Earth forces destroyed a significant Imperial starship.
The 878th Legion, which had served as the primary garrison for the region, was wiped out entirely. For the first time in the war, Earth had achieved a decisive victory against the Galactic Empire.
From this moment forward, the Resistance Cells of Earth moved from desperate survival tactics to outright offensive warfare. The Earth Resistance and North American Resistance began conducting strikes beyond the planet’s surface. They launched operations against Imperial mining facilities on Venus, began the long Siege of Mars, and even initiated an assault on Jupiter City, one of the Empire’s most important outposts in the Jovian system.
During these new campaigns, humanity encountered unexpected allies. Several large militarized Separatist holdout groups, remnants of the former CIS occupation of Earth that had secretly survived for decades, were discovered during the First Battle of the Sahara.
These Separatist factions joined forces with the Earth Resistance, bringing their droid armies, armored vehicles, and surviving fleet elements into the conflict.
Alongside them were former Republic units that had also remained hidden on Earth after the Clone Wars, including the 906th Legion and the 482nd Siege Battalion. Their presence added invaluable experience and discipline to the Resistance operations.
Despite these growing advantages, Earth’s fighters still struggled in space. They had courage and determination, but they lacked generations of experience in orbital and interplanetary warfare.
Imperial starships and pilots maintained a clear technological and tactical edge. Even with victories accumulating, the Empire remained a formidable force capable of striking back with devastating strength.
Operation Star Blitz & Cry for Help[]
Despite several noble achievements throughout the year 2024, the Galactic Empire eventually uncovered the Earth Resistance’s hidden headquarters in Antarctica.
This discovery triggered the full-scale Invasion of Antarctica and forced a series of rushed evacuations across the continent.
During the fighting, the Earth Resistance was already preparing a bold contingency plan. Their intention was to regroup with the North American Resistance and coordinate with the remnants of the Separatist movement, along with units from the 906th and 482nd Siege Legions. Together, they intended to launch a preemptive strike inside the Star Wars Galaxy.
The ultimate objective of this operation was to reveal Earth’s existence to the entire galaxy, including the Rebel Alliance, in the hope of attracting outside support. At the time, the Empire had no knowledge of this strategy. The Battle of Antarctica concluded on April 22, 2025.
In the aftermath of the defeat, the Earth Resistance found itself temporarily removed from the war effort. The surviving units relocated to Atlantic Post, an underwater fortress constructed in the Atlantic Ocean during the era of the Droid Occupation in the Far Away War Era. This fortress had been engineered to protect human society in the event of global catastrophe.
As remaining personnel evacuated into this underwater sanctuary, preparations began for a counterstrike operation known as Operation Star Blitz.
Operation Star Blitz marked the first instance in all of Earth’s recorded history in which a military force originating from Earth traveled into the Star Wars Galaxy and conducted offensive operations against foreign planets. In the year 3 ABY, corresponding to 2025 on the Earth calendar, the Earth Resistance launched coordinated assaults on Tatooine and Nylon.
They operated alongside Separatist holdouts, elements of the 906th Legion, and the 842nd Battalion.
Although Earth forces suffered heavy casualties due to the technological superiority of the Star Wars factions, as well as exposure to hostile alien wildlife and unfamiliar diseases, they succeeded in maintaining their foothold for over seven weeks. During this period, they detonated the first nuclear device ever used on the soil of the Star Wars Galaxy.
While the Earth Resistance conducted operations on Marvola, Nylon, and Tatooine, the North American Resistance launched a separate but related mission on Hoth.
Their temporary occupation of the planet was part of an effort to locate a communications system capable of reaching the Rebel Alliance. The mission failed after six weeks when Imperial forces arrived in significant numbers, forcing the newly formed United Coalition to retreat back through the black hole that connected the two galaxies. Despite the withdrawal, Operation Star Blitz was not considered a failure.
The Earth Resistance had maintained combat operations in the Star Wars Galaxy for nearly two months, long enough for the Alliance to Restore the Republic to witness unknown military activity. The Alliance would not fully understand what they saw until 5 ABY.
Fearing that the Rebels might discover the existence of the black hole and the Milky Way Galaxy, the Galactic Empire attempted to conceal all evidence of Earth’s incursions. Imperial High Command labeled the attacks as internal uprisings occurring deep within Imperial space and insisted that the disturbances were unrelated to outside civilizations.
The Empire also diverted attention toward the construction of Death Star II, hoping that the Rebellion would conclude the Empire had simply been hiding the battle station. This cover story succeeded to a limited degree, but not all members of the Alliance accepted it.
Some suspected that the Empire was hiding something much larger and far more significant than a superweapon.
Return of the Empire 2026-2027[]
After the events of Operation Star Blitz and the fall of Antarctica, the North American Resistance continued its relentless campaign against the Imperial Forces throughout the remainder of 2025 and into the early months of 2026.
For a time, their attacks were frequent, coordinated, and effective enough to slow down the Imperial advance. However, the momentum shifted during the Battle of Archer Gorge on April 10, 2026. This battle marked a devastating turning point in the conflict.
The Resistance suffered a decisive defeat that forced its armies to retreat from the field, and the movement endured one of its greatest losses with the death of Emily Hans.
Emily Hans was widely regarded as the Noble Leader of the North American Resistance. She had earned the title Hero of Hoth during Operation Star Blitz and had become one of the most trusted soldiers serving under George Walton Lucas.
Her courage, tactical instincts, and symbolic presence made her an inspiration to thousands. Her death created a vacuum in leadership that shook the morale and organization of the Resistance at a critical moment in the war.
As a result of the defeat at Archer Gorge and the loss of Emily, the North American Resistance was forced into temporary withdrawal. The surviving Resistance commanders ordered their forces to retreat underground in order to regroup, rebuild their shattered ranks, and recover from the catastrophic blow.
Meanwhile, the Meso-American Resistance, the South American Resistance, and the Japanese Resistance continued their efforts to hold Imperial forces at bay. Despite their determination, the overall strategic situation for humanity grew increasingly dire. Every front strained under the overwhelming strength of the returning Empire.
By the summer of 2026, the North American Resistance emerged from its period of recovery with a renewed offensive known as Operation Archer.
The mission targeted the Imperial Drydocks located in the ruins of what had once been Miami, Florida. Resistance intelligence believed these drydocks were responsible for repairing the Empire's remaining capital ships and producing experimental support vessels. However, upon reaching the operational zone, the Resistance made a grim discovery. More Imperial Star Destroyers had appeared over time, materializing in the skies above Earth in growing numbers.
Despite this revelation, the Resistance pressed forward with the assault. Operation Archer ultimately succeeded in destroying the Imperial Star Destroyer Ineoppa, which crashed into the remnants of the coastline.
Yet even as George Lucas himself witnessed the victory, he and the surviving Resistance forces remained unaware of the true scale of what they were facing. None of them realized that they were watching the beginning of the Galactic Empire’s full return to the Milky Way.
Since the destruction of the second Death Star and the deaths of Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader at the Battle of Endor, remnants of the Empire had slowly regrouped and rebuilt in distant sectors. Their reemergence near Earth marked the beginning of a new era of warfare that humanity was not prepared to fight.
As the situation continued to worsen, more Imperial fleets poured into Earth’s atmosphere and orbital space. By the beginning of 2027, the sheer volume of Imperial troops and warships made direct warfare with the Empire impossible.
Resistance commanders across all continents acknowledged that conventional frontline warfare could no longer succeed. Each of the major surviving Resistance cells was forced to adopt guerrilla-style tactics. Small, mobile strike teams replaced large armies. Sabotage, infiltration, and hit-and-run operations became the only viable methods of survival.
Unfortunately, morale collapsed when word spread that the black hole which had once served as a crucial escape route and communication channel had closed permanently.
This news devastated Resistance fighters across the globe. Entire units began to break down. Many soldiers deserted. Others turned against their own factions, revealing bases, supply caches, and commanders to the Empire in exchange for survival or imperial favor.
These betrayals led to widespread mutinies that shattered the fragile unity of the Resistance. Commanders were forced to silence informants to prevent further leaks, but every execution damaged the moral foundation of the Resistance even more. Paranoia grew.
Trust vanished. Resistance movements that had once stood as symbols of global defiance against tyranny now struggled to maintain discipline within their own ranks.
By the year 2030, the fallout from these internal betrayals reached catastrophic levels. The Meso-American Resistance, which had fought fiercely since the earliest days of the war, was completely wiped out. The South American Resistance had already been destroyed two years earlier in 2028, its downfall accelerated by the same mutinies and internal fractures. With both of these critical factions gone, the war for Earth grew even more hopeless.
The surviving Resistance movements were left isolated, weakened, and scattered across the globe, facing an enemy whose power had grown beyond anything humanity had imagined.
Fall of the Resistance 2027-2035[]
In an attempt to bring the growing mutinies under control, the remaining North American, Earth, and Japanese Resistance Cells began enforcing strict disciplinary measures across their ranks.
Any fighter who expressed even the slightest intention of surrendering to the Galactic Empire was immediately executed for treason. These harsh policies were born from desperation, but they also created deep fractures within the Resistance.
Over time, resentment and mistrust grew until the situation escalated into the Resistance Civil War. This internal conflict raged from November 2027 until December 19, 2030.
Although the Civil War ultimately weakened the Earth Resistance Cells, it also resulted in a brutal purge of all remaining traitors and sympathizers. By the end of 2030, the conflict nearly destroyed what remained of Earth’s struggle against the Empire, leaving the Resistance battered, divided, and unsure of its own survival.
Despite this weakened state, and despite the fact that the Empire had returned to full strength, now even surpassing the power it held when Earth first fell in 2020, the Japanese Resistance refused to surrender. Instead, they launched Operation Taigogan on July 1, 2031.
The goal of the operation was to liberate the ruins of Tokyo, which had been converted by the Empire into a heavily fortified Wall City. Working alongside the Earth and North American Resistance Cells, the Japanese forces managed to reclaim portions of Tokyo. Their success was short lived, because a massive Imperial counteroffensive began tightening around the ruins.
The situation worsened when Imperial orbital bombardment began pounding resistance positions, threatening to erase every gain the alliance had made.
In response, the Japanese unleashed Project TOGA, a giant combat mech that had been in development since the Droid Occupation of Earth during the Far Away War Era.
TOGA was deployed directly into the heart of the battle. For the first time in history, the Galactic Empire found itself unable to destroy a Resistance war machine through conventional means. Several star destroyers were lost during the engagement, shocking Imperial High Command. Although TOGA was eventually overwhelmed and destroyed, its impact was devastating enough that the Empire officially designated Japan as a Class R Threat.
As retaliation, the Empire initiated a catastrophic orbital bombardment that completely annihilated the Japanese archipelago. The islands were reduced to molten debris and ash, and with them the Japanese Resistance was wiped out entirely.
The destruction of Japan left only two Resistance factions remaining.
The responsibility for continuing the war now fell heavily on the shoulders of George Walton Lucas. At this time, Lucas was suffering severe guilt and post-traumatic stress disorder. In his journals he wrote that he felt personally responsible for the creation of Star Wars in the 1970s.
He confessed that if he had known the franchise would manifest in real life and bring about Earth’s conquest, he never would have created it in 1977.
This guilt drove him relentlessly. He became determined to correct what he believed were his past mistakes, even if doing so cost him his life.
Under Lucas’s leadership, the North American Resistance began launching increasingly aggressive attacks against the Galactic Empire across the continent. Many of these missions seemed impossible, but the strikes slowly built momentum. On July 28, 2035, these efforts culminated in the liberation of a massive superweapon that had been constructed by Enron Ordnance.
Between 2031 and 2035, Resistance operations led to the destruction of several Imperial installations not only throughout North America but also deep into South America and Asia, proving that the Empire could still be challenged in multiple theaters.
George Lucas’s final major offensive took place on December 1, 2034. The North American Resistance launched a full-scale assault on the Imperial industrial facility known as Armiasan Tech. During the attack, they succeeded in destroying the newly constructed Imperial Super Walker, designated AT-RTW. This was a significant morale victory, but the Empire responded swiftly.
In 2035, roughly one month after the North American Resistance liberated Titan, Imperial intelligence discovered the location of Harkora, Lucas’s sanctuary and headquarters. On August 2, 2035, the Empire launched a massive invasion.
Imperial shock troops breached the North American defense lines and forced the Resistance to evacuate through underground tunnel systems and by sea.
In the final hours of the evacuation, George Lucas fled by ship with a large number of Resistance fighters.
Once they left the coastline, the vessel disappeared without a trace and was never seen again. The Resistance members who attempted to escape by land were systematically hunted down by the Empire and exterminated. Their destruction forced the Earth Resistance to intervene, taking in the last survivors of the North American Resistance by September 2035.
The fall of the North American Resistance in 2035 left the Earth Resistance as the sole remaining force on the planet still fighting against the Galactic Empire.
With every other faction destroyed, scattered, or consumed by internal conflict, the survival of Earth’s final rebellion now depended entirely on this last, fragile group.
The War In Space 2036-2046[]
With the North American Resistance finally knocked out of commission, its surviving members were absorbed into the broader Earth Resistance.
For a time this unification created a sense of renewed strength, but it also ensured that the Galactic Empire would eventually detect Atlantic Outpost.
Once the Empire confirmed its location, it launched a massive assault on the underwater facility. Despite ferocious defensive combat that rendered the structure unstable and on the verge of collapse, the Earth Resistance managed to evacuate.
Assisted by the former Republic forces of the 906th Legion and the 842nd Siege Battalion, the Resistance boarded the captured Heavy Cruiser Sidiousus and escaped into space. Before retreating, the defenders scuttled the outpost and killed every Imperial soldier trapped inside its pressure-flooded corridors.
The Earth Resistance knew Earth itself was lost. There was nowhere left to hide now that the Galactic Empire had fully returned and secured its presence within the Milky Way Galaxy.
The closure of the black hole in 2027 had permanently sealed their foothold. Their only remaining hope for long-term survival was complete evacuation into deep space.
Although many Resistance members managed to escape through the Exodus, countless others were not present at Atlantic Outpost during the final evacuation. These isolated cells were left stranded on Earth with no way to regroup.
Many chose to sacrifice themselves by attacking Imperial forces directly or by creating diversions that bought time for their fleeing comrades.
Their actions allowed the main group to escape aboard the Sidiousus, the Iona, the Cadaver, and a small number of Separatist transports. By 2037, these ships left the Solar System entirely and scattered to distant refuges such as Radec, Kepler 5, and even Europa’s oceans, where the Resistance hid beneath the icy crust in submerged lairs. Earth fell under complete Imperial dominance, and the war shifted decisively to the vacuum of space.
The new objective of the Earth Resistance was to vanish into the stars and gather strength. They hoped to find new allies or at least remain hidden long enough for the Empire’s incomplete maps of the Milky Way to work in their favor.
Between 2037 and 2042, the Resistance underwent an unprecedented transformation. The veterans of the 906th Legion trained them in space warfare, while Separatist holdout droids volunteered to act as simulated Imperial targets during combat drills.
The 842nd Siege Battalion instructed them in defensive operations based on strategies once used by the Galactic Republic during the Far Away War and the ancient Clone Wars. The goal was to merge Earth’s military doctrines with proven interstellar tactics.
Through this training, the Resistance grew adept at guerrilla operations among the stars. They learned how to ambush Imperial convoys, disable refueling ships, and intercept supply lines stretching from Pluto toward Earth. Their boldest achievement occurred on February 29th, 2038, during the Battle of Sector 4484, when Resistance forces boarded and captured an Imperial Star Destroyer. This unexpected victory sent shockwaves through the Empire. However, the Empire retaliated quickly.
On November 20th, 2038, Imperial High Command initiated Operation Star Sweep. The operation resulted in the loss of Kepler and forced the Resistance to retreat even farther beyond the borders of the Solar System. Although many regrouped at Radec, a larger portion pushed deeper into the remote region known as Poseidon. By 2040, they established the underwater city of Aquatica, which became a major Resistance stronghold.
Despite these setbacks, the Earth Resistance continued to disrupt Imperial activities throughout the 2040s. They launched hit and run attacks against Imperial supply chains in the hope of starving the occupation forces on Earth. During these years they also salvaged the drifting remains of the Hubble Space Telescope, which had been knocked out of orbit during the Far Away War in the 1990s. The telescope’s parts were repurposed for reconnaissance and communication systems.
In 2045, the Empire struck back.
Imperial forces launched a full invasion of Radec and conquered the planet after a brutal campaign. The mobile fortress LOCUST made its final stand there and was destroyed along with most of its defenders. The fall of Radec deprived the Resistance of one of its most resource-rich worlds and left Poseidon as their last significant refuge.
In response to the loss of Radec, the Earth Resistance carried out a devastating retaliation. They struck the Imperial garrison at the Battle of Kagis, killing every Imperial soldier stationed there.
The Resistance broadcast the entire attack directly to the Imperial Parliament, which had relocated from Coruscant to Earth during the Great Exodus from the Star Wars Galaxy between 2026 and 2027. This broadcast was meant both as a warning and a declaration that the Resistance still lived.
Following this event, Soviet General Dimitri Renkov proposed a bold strategy. He suggested a massive offensive into the Solar System using every ship constructed on Poseidon and Radec along with every vessel captured from the Empire.
The plan called for a full scale blitz directly toward the Imperial strongholds surrounding Earth. The idea was highly controversial. Leaders from the United States, Japan, Britain, and Germany opposed it, arguing the plan was reckless.
However, after long debate a decision was finally made on April 1st, 2046, to authorize the attack.
By the time preparations were completed, the Resistance commanded a fleet of fifty eight ships, the largest Earth fleet ever assembled in human history. The battle began twenty light years from Kepler 5 on April 10th, 2046.
For more than a month, both the Imperial forces and the Earth Resistance struggled to break through each other’s lines. Neither side gained a decisive advantage. On May 18th, 2046, just as it appeared the Resistance was gaining ground, Imperial reinforcements arrived from Jupiter. The battle turned instantly.
The Resistance fleet was overwhelmed, and General Renkov was killed in action.
The failed assault exposed the last secret the Resistance still held. The Empire discovered the location of Poseidon. Four weeks later, on June 15th, 2046, Imperial forces launched a full invasion of the world, beginning one of the most desperate chapters in the entire Resistance struggle.
Battle of Poseidon[]
As the Empire closed in on the planet Poseidon, its forward assault groups made direct contact with the Separatist Holdout Fleet that had formed a blockade around the world. The initial engagement was violent and immediate.
While the orbital battle unfolded above, the men of the 482nd Siege Battalion activated their submerged anti-orbital cannons. These massive weapons, hidden deep beneath Poseidon’s oceans, launched powerful energy projectiles upward through the water and into orbit. Their accurate fire prevented Imperial Star Destroyers from descending any closer to the planet’s surface.
For a time, the combined defenses of the United Earth Coalition held firm. The coalition was composed of the Earth Resistance, the Republic’s 906th Legion, the 482nd Siege Battalion, and the remaining Confederacy of Independent Systems Holdouts. Each force contributed its own specialized resistance to the Imperial fleet.
Despite these impressive defenses, Imperial Admiral Shakyola Fissar of the 44th Fleet eventually identified a weak point in the outer CIS formation.
With precise maneuvering, she broke through the blockade and opened a corridor toward the planet, forcing the war to transition from orbital bombardments to surface and underwater combat.
This breach forced the 482nd Battalion to divert the aim of their anti-orbital cannons toward lower-altitude Imperial ships. Although effective, this maneuver came at a cost.
By redirecting their fire, the battalion unintentionally revealed the exact location where an Imperial landing force could be deployed beneath the ocean. Seizing this opportunity, the Empire unleashed waves of Sea-Troopers who dove into the depths and initiated close-quarters underwater engagements with Coalition defenders.
During these battles, the Empire succeeded in placing a triangulation beacon that identified the concealed location of Aquadia, Poseidon’s greatest underwater city.
With this information transmitted to orbit, the Star Destroyer Imersa initiated a devastating orbital bombardment. Its heavy turbolaser strikes tore through one of Aquadia’s major sectors and caused entire districts to flood as the protective walls collapsed. However, the bombardment produced an unintended and catastrophic effect. The sheer magnitude of the assault stirred the depths and awakened the Cosmock, Poseidon’s most ancient and lethal sea creature.
As Imperial forces pushed into the shattered outskirts of Aquadia, they encountered fierce resistance from the Earth Resistance fighters, the elite troops of the 906th Legion, and the battle-worn droids of the Separatist Holdouts.
Meanwhile, the 482nd Battalion continued to fight defensive actions around the remaining anti-orbital cannons in an attempt to keep the Empire from seizing them.
Just as the fighting reached its most chaotic point, the Cosmock emerged from the abyss. The creature attacked indiscriminately, turning its fury against every faction. The 482nd, seeing no other option, attempted to neutralize the monster with an anti-orbital cannon. The blast struck the creature but only enraged it further, leading the Cosmock to destroy the cannon and forcing the battalion to retreat.
The Cosmock then descended upon Aquadia with unstoppable violence. It slaughtered Earth Resistance fighters, Separatist droids, Imperial troops, and Republic soldiers alike.
The Earth Resistance eventually succeeded in luring the colossal monster toward the surface, where it breached the ocean in full view of the Imperial fleet. Several Star Destroyers opened fire immediately, but the creature remained unfazed.
In a display of terrifying strength, the Cosmock seized the Imersa, Admiral Seresha Fissar’s flagship, and snapped the vessel in half. The destruction killed the admiral and her entire command crew.
The monster then hurled the broken halves of the Imersa into other Star Destroyers, causing catastrophic collisions that sent burning warships plunging into the sea.
During the chaos, American sniper Winston Hirlock studied the creature and discovered a vital weakness.
He concluded that the Cosmock could only be killed if its eyes were destroyed to blind it, followed by a direct, concentrated blast fired straight into its mouth.
Armed with this information, the 482nd Siege Battalion raised their remaining five anti-orbital cannons to the surface.
At the same time, the Separatist Fleet launched renewed attacks to distract the monster while also fending off arriving Imperial reinforcements. With perfect coordination, the 482nd fired two powerful shots that destroyed both of the Cosmock’s eyes.
The final blast traveled straight into the creature’s gaping maw. The shot tore through its reinforced beak and vaporized the creature’s head, ending its rampage. The Cosmock’s massive body collapsed lifelessly into the ocean and slowly sank beneath the waves.
With the monster finally dead, the Empire attempted to resume its assault on Aquadia. Despite the incredible losses sustained during the Cosmock’s rampage, Imperial commanders pushed forward in an effort to reclaim their lost momentum. However, an overwhelming Earth Resistance counterattack soon reclaimed the Chamber of the Lost and the New United Kingdom districts. The Imperial forces were left exhausted from both the Cosmock encounter and the relentless pressure of the CIS Fleet. Recognizing that the battle had become unwinnable, Imperial leadership ordered a withdrawal from the planet.
Although the Empire vowed to return to Poseidon with a much larger invasion force, this promise would never be fulfilled. Only two months later, on August 29, 2046, the New Republic arrived on Earth. Their intervention resulted in the Liberation of Earth and brought an end to the Empire’s twenty-six year occupation of the planet.
