The Earth Resistance Marine Legions were a major branch of the Earth Resistance Military, established following their first official deployment on October 23, 2023, during the Battle of Ranaton Island.
This operation marked the beginning of humanity’s renewed efforts to reclaim strategic control over the Pacific region.
The Earth Resistance sought to secure a permanent checkpoint within the Pacific Ocean, a critical location chosen to serve as a link in a much larger supply chain. Their ultimate objective was to create a stable route connecting the Western Hemisphere to the frozen continent of Antarctica, ensuring that valuable resources and supplies could flow freely to the southern front.
The Battle of Ranaton Island was a defining moment for the newly formed Marine Legions. Despite being hastily organized and equipped, the Marines demonstrated remarkable discipline and adaptability under fire.
Their success in establishing a foothold on the island not only legitimized the Marine branch as a permanent division within the Earth Resistance Military but also set the standard for all future amphibious and expeditionary operations conducted by the Resistance.
Two years later, in 2025, the Marine Legions played a decisive role during Operation Star Blitz, a massive interdimensional campaign that unfolded within the Star Wars Galaxy during the year known as 3 ABY.
The operation centered on the invasion of the planet Nylon, where Earth forces sought to establish dominance over a series of strategic worlds controlled by the Galactic Empire.
During the Landing of Woolen Pass, the Earth Resistance Marines spearheaded the assault against Imperial forces, engaging in intense urban and mountain warfare that culminated in the destruction of the Imperial military garrison city-state of Acaton. This victory solidified the Marines’ reputation as one of the most adaptable and aggressive fighting units in the Resistance’s history.
Throughout the broader Earth–Imperial War, the Marine Corps initially operated as an amphibious force primarily responsible for establishing beachheads between 2023 and 2024.
However, as the conflict expanded across multiple theaters, their role evolved dramatically. By the midpoint of the war, the Marines were no longer limited to coastal or island assaults.
