Lars Karnor, a young American soldier from Norman City, Oregon, was born during the turbulent First Occupation of Earth in 1994.

His early life was marred by tragedy, as he lost both parents to the Trade Federation and the Confederacy of Independent Systems (CIS)—his mother when he was an infant, and his father at the tender age of five in 1999.

Left an orphan, Lars endured a bleak and dangerous childhood, scavenging for food rations while evading CIS patrols and looters in the ruins of his hometown in northern Oregon.

Despite these hardships, Lars found hope and inspiration in the Galactic Republic.

At just nine years old, he witnessed their heroism during the Stand at Norman City in 2003, a pivotal battle that liberated his hometown and marked the beginning of Earth's emancipation from CIS control. This event cemented the Republic as his idols, filling his young heart with admiration and a dream of becoming a soldier who could one day defend Earth from its oppressors.

By age 26, Lars had realized part of that dream, enlisting in the military during the onset of the Third Invasion of Earth. Motivated by a desire for vengeance against the Trade Federation and the CIS, he was instead thrust into the chaos of the Earth-Imperial War.

His life took a devastating turn during the Battle of King’s Valley on September 13, 2020, where he witnessed a catastrophic orbital strike that obliterated U.S. forces, leaving him deeply traumatized.

The aftermath of the battle marked the beginning of Earth's Imperial Occupation on October 22, 2020. Lars participated in the infamous Battle of Seven Rocks in the Pacific, narrowly escaping death but suffering permanent psychological scars from the horrific Rock Island Massacre. Following the campaign, he was captured by the Empire and coerced into serving as a Stormtrooper.

His first escape from the Empire came during the Fall of Washington, D.C., after which he returned to Norman City, seeking refuge.

By 2021, Lars faced further trials. On October 22, the anniversary of Earth's fall, he was once again forcibly conscripted into the Imperial ranks.

However, fate intervened when resistance fighters launched a daring attack on the town square where recruits were being gathered. Amid the chaos, Lars managed to escape, rescuing a mysterious young girl known only as Kay. Together, they fled Norman City, forging a bond that would shape the future of the Resistance.

Lars gained notoriety as the first human to hijack an Imperial AT-AT during the Resistance's retreat from Norman City on October 23, 2021, just one day after meeting Kay.

This bold act of defiance marked him as a key figure in the fight against Imperial oppression.

His journey became the heart of 2091riveraisreal's acclaimed 2006 novel Imperial Conquest, chronicling his transformation from a traumatized soldier to a symbol of hope and rebellion.

Battle of Kings Valley[]

Main article: Assault on Kings Valley

In 2018, 24-year-old Karnor enlisted in the military, eager to serve and defend his nation. Not long after, he was deployed to King’s Valley, a strategically significant area along the Iranian-Iraqi border.

The region had been invaded and occupied by the Galactic Empire, which aimed to use it as a foothold and landing zone for a larger-scale invasion of Earth. Karnor, grouped with seasoned soldiers Sgt. Henrietta and Captain Maryian, faced the daunting task of countering the Imperial forces.

During their deployment, Karnor’s team was ambushed by Stormtroopers after the Empire shot down a Black Hawk and Chinook helicopter, leaving most of the Rangers pinned under heavy Imperial fire.

The Imperial defenses were bolstered by entrenched positions and attacking AT-ST walkers. Despite overwhelming odds, Captain Maryian led the charge, coordinating an airstrike with F-15E Strike Eagles to obliterate an Imperial blaster turret on the upper bluffs.

The team pushed forward, tasked with eliminating AT-ST walkers that were decimating their tank units. Armed with RPGs, Karnor and his squad successfully destroyed two walkers, securing a temporary victory.

The Rangers then regrouped and secured a new landing zone (LZ) to allow reinforcements to arrive via Chinooks and Black Hawks. During this effort, Karnor used a captured Imperial MiniMag PTL missile launcher to neutralize a third AT-ST, ensuring the LZ was cleared with no casualties.

Reinforcements arrived, and with the support of Abrams tanks, Karnor’s team pressed their attack against heavily fortified positions on the ridge.

They managed to eliminate a squad of Imperial Shock Troopers targeting American air support but soon found themselves pinned by snipers concealed on the upper ridge. An Abrams tank neutralized the snipers, clearing the way for Karnor’s team to breach the second defensive barrier. The remaining Stormtroopers retreated as the Rangers captured Saguaro Hill. However, their victory was short-lived.

As they fortified their position on the hill, the ominous sound of engines heralded the arrival of a massive fleet of Imperial Star Destroyers in the sky.

Before Karnor could issue orders, an Imperial sniper killed one of the Rangers, triggering a fierce counterattack by the Empire. Karnor and his team fought valiantly, repelling several waves of Stormtroopers. Yet, the arrival of an AT-AT walker proved devastating.

Its impenetrable armor rendered Abrams tank fire ineffective, forcing a retreat. The United States military, outgunned and overwhelmed, abandoned Saguaro Hill. As they withdrew, the Imperial Star Destroyers unleashed a region-wide orbital bombardment, obliterating 78% of the U.S. ground forces.

Tie Fighters launched from the fleet, quickly establishing aerial dominance and devastating American airpower. Karnor and his team narrowly escaped, boarding a Black Hawk helicopter and fleeing the region as the battle ended in a crushing Imperial victory.

Into Monark's Ruins[]

After narrowly escaping with Kaitlin following a violent shootout at the Imperial Base in the fields, Lars and Kaitlin navigate through dense woods, leaving the hills behind. Their journey leads them to the ruins of Monark, a once-thriving town devastated by war during the final days of Earth's fall in 2020.

The town, now a desolate graveyard, bears fresh signs of carnage—streets littered with bodies, some grotesquely piled amidst the debris.

As they cautiously move deeper into the ruins, Lars advises Kaitlin to stay vigilant. They eventually arrive at the town's central Crossroads, a chillingly quiet area that suggests unseen dangers. A sudden noise breaks the tense silence, prompting Lars to scout ahead while instructing Kaitlin to remain behind cover.

While investigating, Lars glimpses a shadowy figure lurking in the ruins but is unable to engage as the figure vanishes mysteriously. Moments later, an ambush unfolds—a shot from an E-11 Blaster rifle strikes Lars in the left rib, taking him down.

Despite managing a few retaliatory shots with his E-11s sniper rifle, Lars succumbs to his injury and collapses. As Stormtroopers move to secure him, a fierce firefight erupts at the Crossroads.

Kaitlin, using a nearby house as a makeshift bunker, puts up a valiant fight, taking down four Imperial squad members. However, the Imperials overwhelm her position, reinforced by the arrival of a patrolling AT-ST walker. The walker devastates Kaitlin’s shelter with its heavy firepower.

Despite being wounded by two laser blasts, Kaitlin holds her ground. Just when defeat seems imminent, a rocket suddenly obliterates the AT-ST.

The tides turn as Resistance forces, coincidentally in the town on a supply mission from Antarctica, launch a surprise attack on the remaining Stormtroopers. Their timely intervention secures Lars and Kaitlin’s survival.

Both Lars and Kaitlin are evacuated to a temporary field headquarters at Karnora Airport, situated 14 miles from the ruins of Monark. The Resistance forces provide critical medical attention, giving the duo a chance to recover and regroup for the battles ahead.

Defense of Karnora Airport[]

Upon waking up from being unconscious, Lars finds himself and Kaitlin on a bed in the ruins of Monark, where they are introduced to Gloria Kasich, a 28-year-old nurse and leader of a local Resistance group.

To his surprise, Lars realizes that Kaitlin and Gloria know each other. Their reunion is cut short when a Resistance fighter rushes in to inform Gloria that the outer defenses have been breached by Imperial forces.

Understanding that the airport—their current stronghold—is about to fall, Gloria orders Lars and Kaitlin to board a plane being refueled for a desperate escape to the Resistance’s main headquarters in Antarctica. While Gloria and her team plan to stay behind and hold off the Imperial invasion, Lars refuses to flee without a fight.

He insists on staying to help defend the airport alongside Kaitlin, but not before using bacta tanks he had found earlier at an Imperial outpost to heal himself and Kaitlin.

As the battle begins, Imperial forces storm the parking lot. Lars hands his sniper rifle to Kaitlin, tasking her with picking off advancing stormtroopers while he moves into the fray to assist the Resistance.

Initially, the Resistance holds their ground against the attackers, but the arrival of an AT-ST walker devastates their fortifications. The situation worsens as a second AT-ST and reinforcements arrive, forcing some Resistance fighters to retreat.

In a daring move, Lars snatches a captured Imperial missile launcher—reminiscent of his actions during the Battle of Kings Valley five years earlier in 2019—and manages to destroy one of the AT-STs. This bold action allows him and some of the Resistance to temporarily regroup. However, as four AT-AT walkers approach from the west, Lars realizes the airport’s fall is inevitable. He retreats into a parking structure under heavy fire, where he uses destroyed vehicles as barricades to hold back pursuing stormtroopers.

After spotting a skywalk leading back to the main airport building, Lars ascends higher into the structure. Reaching the building, he finds Kaitlin trapped under rubble caused by the destruction of the front entrance. Fighting through a swarm of stormtroopers, he rescues her and carries her to the airport’s food court, where he lays her on a table.

There, they are confronted by an enraged Gloria, who berates Lars and Kaitlin for disobeying her orders to escape. Despite her frustration, Gloria tends to Kaitlin’s injuries while the Empire continues to overwhelm the airport.

Realizing that he would only slow the women down, Lars orders Gloria and Kaitlin to board the plane without him while he holds off the advancing Imperials.

A fierce firefight erupts in the food court, with Lars joined by a handful of Resistance fighters. Eventually, they are forced to retreat as the Imperials breach their position. In a desperate attempt to buy more time, a Resistance fighter detonates explosives, collapsing the exits and slowing the stormtroopers’ advance.

Lars and the surviving fighters make their way out of the airport. Spotting a rocket launcher amidst the debris, Lars climbs to the roof of a nearby building. From this vantage point, he witnesses the plane carrying Gloria and Kaitlin taking off.

In a final heroic act, Lars fires a rocket to distract an advancing AT-AT, creating a crucial opening for the plane to escape safely into the sky.

Operation Orbital[]

Operation Sandstorm[]

Lars Karnor participated in Operation Sandstorm, a pivotal campaign critical to the success of the Earth Resistance Offensive.

This operation, meticulously planned by Colonel William Chanler, aimed to achieve multiple objectives. Firstly, it sought to secure control of Fort Helios, a strategically significant stronghold.

Secondly, it aimed to launch attacks on other Imperial settlements throughout North Africa. These efforts were part of a larger strategy to mislead the Empire into believing that the Earth Resistance intended to reclaim North Africa entirely.

In reality, this diversion was designed to draw Imperial forces' attention away, enabling Earth Resistance boarding parties to assault and seize the Sidiousus, a vital Imperial asset in orbit.

For the first time, Lars took part in this high-stakes operation as a member of the Militia Legion, collaborating closely with George Miller and the elite Viper Squad. The Earth Resistance utilized the cover of a massive sandstorm to execute a surprise attack on the Imperial Zanzu River stronghold. This tactical maneuver allowed them to decimate Imperial defenses in northern Tunisia, effectively severing communication lines and preventing the Empire from sending distress signals to Cairo, the capital of Imperial-occupied North Africa.

Following this successful engagement, Lars Karnor, despite being a regular military operative rather than a Militia member, was invited to officially join Viper Squad.

He quickly became an integral part of their ranks. Just hours later, Lars participated in the squad’s daring assault on District 1, a mission to eliminate the Imperial puppet governor Quinrica Sumhal, further solidifying his role in the Earth Resistance's fight against the Empire.

This marked a turning point for Lars, establishing his prominence in the Resistance’s ongoing struggle and cementing his place within the ranks of the legendary Viper Squad.

Assault on Samahaki Village[]

Following the conclusion of a relentless sandstorm that had engulfed the Sahara, the Battle of Fort Helios continued with fierce intensity.

Lars Karnor, a dedicated member of the Earth Resistance, was dispatched on a critical scouting mission to the south to locate and intercept any counterattacking Imperial forces that might threaten Fort Helios from that direction. At the same time, the fort itself faced heavy bombardment from Imperial response units stationed at Camp Galagor.

During his mission, Lars forged a strong camaraderie with George Miller, a fellow resistance fighter. The two were tasked with a reconnaissance operation after discovering the Imperial-occupied village of Samahaki. Their investigation revealed a surprising vulnerability: while the Imperial forces were aware of Earth Resistance activities in the Sahara, they were oblivious to the resistance's proximity to their own strongholds.

This oversight exposed significant weaknesses in the defenses of Samahaki, a fortress-like settlement.

Acting swiftly on the intelligence gathered, the Earth Resistance launched an assault.

The initial battle saw them overpowering the heavily fortified Tayaki Hill, a key defensive position. Once this barrier was breached, resistance fighters advanced through the gaps in the Imperial defenses and infiltrated the village itself.

Despite encountering fierce resistance and witnessing the harrowing sight of civilians under threat of mass execution by Imperial forces, Lars led a determined effort to save the villagers. Braving the "killing fields," he and his unit managed to rescue the imperiled civilians, a pivotal act that demoralized the occupying forces.

The resistance launched a relentless assault on Samahaki, engaging in a grueling half-hour of intense and bloody combat.

Their efforts led to the temporary liberation of the village, providing a brief but critical window for its citizens to escape to safety. This strategic victory not only bought precious time for the militia stationed in the nearby town to evacuate but also delayed the inevitable reoccupation by the Galactic Empire.

Despite the high cost in lives and resources, the operation demonstrated the resilience and determination of the resistance forces as they fought to undermine the Empire's oppressive control and protect the vulnerable communities caught in the crossfire.

After the battle, Lars shared a final conversation with George Miller, reflecting on the hard-fought victory and the cost of their actions. However, their time together was cut short as Lars received orders to return to Fort Helios, where the battle against the Imperial forces continued unabated.

Trivia[]

  • It was stated during the old Novel that Lars Karnor became the first Earth human to operate and use a Rebel A280 Blaster Rifle, although it was still unclear on how the Rebel Weapon showed up on Earth during the Early years of the Imperial occupation of Earth as the Galactic Civil War had only begun last year, as the Rebellion no longer possesd these weapons at the time of the early years of the Galactic Civil War...
    • although it could have been possible that the A280 was an experimental blaster at the time, before the rifle fell to the Alliance to restore the Republic by 3 ABY, where it became the standard issue weapon of the Rebellion, and future New Republic...
    • However it was eventually revealed in Star Wars Legends, that the A280 Blaster Rifle, was actually a Republic Weapon that was used by both the Planetary Security Forces, and Ranulph Tarkin's Republic Outland Regions Security Force, before the declaration of the New Order was announced, revealing that the A280s are last year Republic Weapons, but were never used by the Grand Army during the Clone Wars, though the Empire may have used them at the time prior to the Galactic Civil War's start, and may have sent one down to Earth, during the first year of the Imperial Occupation of the planet, where it would eventually be found by Lars Karnor that same year, However this is also Debatable, as the A289s were known to be in the Black Market of the Star Wars Galaxy, and most of the Empire were armed with E-11's making the theory of the A280 showing up on Earth a never ending Mystery...
